H2O Physio Opens Second Underwater Treadmill in Birmingham

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAH2O Physio’s second hydrotherapy suite will open its doors at the Optispine Back and Joint Centre in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter at the end of January.

The UK’s first private clinic to have the revolutionary underwater treadmill, has certainly created a buzz and the new Birmingham centre follows hot on the heels of the flagship facilities near Wolverhampton.

H2O Physio offers some truly innovative aquatherapy techniques that provide all the advantages of effective exercise without putting stress on joints. So whether it’s for wellness or rehabilitation, it’s a comfortable, safe way to exercise for people of all ages and all levels of mobility.
Chartered physiotherapist, Davinder Chatha, who heads up the organisation says: “This advanced hydrotherapy produces some profound results. Movement in water has many advantages, which just can’t be achieved on land.”

“Our hydrotherapy equipment was previously only available for elite athletes and premiership football teams, but can offer remarkable benefits to people suffering from a variety of debilitating conditions,” he adds.

Over the past year Davinder has successfully treated patients at Halfpenny Green for arthritis, back problems, post orthopaedic surgery, MS, stroke recovery and weight loss.

Russell, 49, came to H2O Physio for rehabilitation after a motorbike accident left him with a fractured pelvis and crushed discs in his lower back.
“I haven’t walked so far since the accident. I don’t need my crutches anymore and I’m in a lot less pain,” Russell reports.

Another patient with back problems used the underwater treadmill to strengthen the stabilising muscles of his spine and pelvis, and build core strength to protect his back as much as possible. Bal suffered with back pain for over 20 years, caused by the heavy lifting his work demanded and was keen to avoid surgery.

“I’ve suffered with back pain for years and it really affected my quality of life – even forcing me to stop working. Finally I’ve found a great way to get better and I’ve even gone back to work,” Bal comments.

The investment in a second treadmill represents its success and a commitment to providing the most advanced physiotherapy equipment in a bid to offer relief to patients.
